me ISSEY MIYAKE's special exhibition "Focus on STRETCH PLEATS" is being held at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT Gallery 3 in Roppongi, Japan from May 3 to June 23, 2024.

A clothing brand "me ISSEY MIYAKE" started in 2000 to create clothing for the ease and enjoyment of one's everyday life.

Its signature STRETCH PLEATS is a material characterized by fine pleats applied vertically and horizontally. The fabric stretches in all directions, creating garments that anyone can wear freely, and enjoy in their own way. This exhibition shares a fresh perspective on "the structure that becomes visible through observation. Through discovering a "single structure" of STRETCH PLEATS, this exhibition is an attempt to creatively observe the phenomena inherent in the garment itself as we look at the movements born from the "single structure" as a "model for movement" and expand the unit of the structure.
